Barney Frank Present at Boyfriend’s Pot Farm Arrest

Barney Frank aka the Congressional Buddy Hackett has pulled many boners in his day, er, poor choice of words, but you take my meaning. At any rate, everyone remembers the little fiasco where police raided Congressman Frank’s home and broke up a gay prostitution ring, arresting the House Banking Committee Chair’s toy-boy for the sale of tail, completely WITHOUT Frank’s knowledge. How a man can supervise the nation’s financial institutions (and fail to see the coming collapse of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lieman Bros., etc.) and not notice that his boyfriend is engaging in multiple acts of illegality in his own home is beyond me, but there you have it!

I came across this blogpost saying Frank was present when his 2007 big strong fella was arrested for growing marijuana.

Frank, of course, disavowed any knowledge of the activity.

According to blogger Bryan McKay:

“Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) admitted Friday that he was present during the 2007 arrest of his partner James Ready, busted for growing marijuana at his Maine residence.

Frank claims that he was unaware of Ready’s agricultural endeavors and is “not a great outdoorsman” and wouldn’t have recognized the plant anyway.

While this excuse is comically flimsy — I’m pretty sure it doesn’t take Bear Grylls to identify a marijuana plant — it’s more frustrating than anything else.

Frank is known for his friendly stance towards marijuana use, having introduced both the States’ Rights to Medical Marijuana Act (H.R. 2592) and the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008 (HR 5843).”

Fox news has also reported on this.

Does that mean Frank likes to smoke a doobie as much as he does more fleshly things?  Maybe, maybe not, but he sure does manage to pick some winning partners in Sodomy.  The point is, can you imagine if a Republican were to be in such a pickle? Here is a guy entrusted with enormous power, a man who is making laws while obviously not concerned about following them - or at least in his friends following them.  The media would have forced the resignation of a Republican within 24 hours, yet it is o.k. for Frank, or indeed any Democrat, since they are on the politically correct side.

It also means Frank is either criminal or criminally obtuse, and in either case should be removed from a postition of leadership and likely from his seat as well (that last phrase was a terrible choice; I want to put out my mind’s eye over that!)

Will this double standard never end?
